At CJ Aquatic, we care deeply about the health and well-being of our fish. To ensure a smooth transition for your new aquatic friends into their new environment, we’ve outlined a step-by-step guide for acclimating your fish.
Before You Start:
- Prepare the Aquarium: Ensure that the aquarium is set up with appropriate water parameters, such as temperature and pH levels, matching the water the fish were transported in.
- Acclimation Container: Have a clean, non-toxic container ready to acclimate the fish.
Acclimation Process:
- Float the Bag: Upon receiving your fish, float the sealed bag in the aquarium for about 15-20 minutes. This allows the temperature inside the bag to gradually adjust to the tank water temperature.
- Gradual Water Addition: Open the bag carefully and roll the top edge to create a floatation ring. Start adding small amounts of aquarium water into the bag at regular intervals of 5-10 minutes. This helps the fish acclimate to the new water conditions slowly. You can use a cup to remove some of the water from the bag if it’s too full to prevent spillage.
- Continue Adding Water: Repeat the process of adding small amounts of water from the tank into the bag until the volume in the bag doubles or triples. This process might take around 30-40 minutes.
- Release the Fish: After the water volume in the bag has increased and the fish seem acclimated, gently net the fish from the bag and introduce them into the aquarium. Avoid adding the water from the acclimation bag into the tank.
- Dispose of Bag Water: Dispose of the water in the bag without introducing it into your aquarium.
- Avoid feeding the fish immediately after introduction. Give them time to settle in their new environment.
Remember, the acclimation process aims to help the fish adjust gradually to the new water parameters without causing stress.
We hope this guide helps in seamlessly introducing your new fish to their new home. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to our team.
